Job Summary: 

Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Reports to: Director, House Supervisor

Essential Functions: 

RN Med Surg

• Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, management of ventilated patients, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment
• Documents patient care given (timely) and maintains required documents to include: shift report, midnight census, daily floor log, refrigerator logs, and crash cart checks
• Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
• Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs
• Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient
• RN must supervise and evaluate the nursing care and documentation for any Licensed Vocational Nurse on duty in the Med-Surg Unit

RN Charge

• Floats between staff to assist with problems solving
• Determines Staffing Level and Assignments based on staff availability, staff ability, census, patient acuity and work/patient flow
• Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift
• ACLS must obtain within 30 days of hire

RN Superpool

• Floats between multiple nursing departments based on census

Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Must obtain within 30 days from hire
• ACLS required within 1 year of hire date
• Handle With Care required within1 year of hire date

Licenses:

• RN
