About the Executive Director of Waco

As with all employees at Mentoring Alliance, the Executive Director of Greater Waco is considered to be a minister of the gospel. The Executive Director is a Christ-follower who sets an example for believers and nonbelievers and leads a life that is above reproach. This person flourishes in a biblically grounded, grace-based, Christ-centered, excellence-driven, and multiethnic environment.

The Executive Director of Waco’s responsibilities include:

Lead, Manage, Accountability

• Hires, trains, supervises, and terminates employees when necessary to accomplish regional outcomes.
• Provides day-to-day leadership for the regional team by facilitating weekly 1:1s with direct reports and facilitating weekly team L10 meetings in line with our EOS model.
• Ensures the regional team is accountable to agree upon goals, metrics, tasks, and recurring business procedures.

MA DNA and Culture Cultivation

• Promotes a regional culture that reflects MA’s values, mission, and achieves programmatic outcomes.
• Communicates vision passionately to inspire staff towards the God-given vision of MA programs.
• Facilitates standing MA activities such as chapel and monthly team huddles.
• Contributes to and supports MA staff events.

Fundraising and Community Relationships

• Oversee communication with stakeholders to ensure brand value and integrity.
• Acts as the face and voice for regional communication, events, and media.
• Manages an Advisory Council (AC) of 10-15 members.
• Maintains healthy relationships with existing AC members and seeks new relationships for future councils.
• Maintains investor portfolio, building and shepherding relationships with key investors.
• Ensures consistency with headquarters (HQ) development plans and enlists support as needed to reach goals.
• Facilitates implementation of key fundraising activities such as annual luncheon, house parties, and Summer Camp tours.
• Ensures that regional brand presence aligns with the MA Brand Guide.
• Ensures regional messaging is consistent with the overall brand messaging.
• Helps develop and execute the marketing plan for regional programs and constituencies in collaboration with the Marketing Team.

Financial Management

• Provides regional data and information to support the building of the annual regional budget (in collaboration with HQ VPs and Finance).
• Owns revenue generation, expense management, and controls for regional programs.
• Complies with reporting schedules and system guidelines as outlined by the Finance Director.
• Collaborates with the finance department for budget assistance, payroll, expense control, and reporting.

Program Safety and Quality Compliance

• Drives regional staff recruiting strategy and efforts.
• Guides regional registration efforts, ensuring all sites meet capacity goals.
• Ensures regional policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
• Ensures safety audits are conducted and completed within guidelines.
• Visits program sites and attends events regularly to engage staff and understand program needs.
• Monitors program complaints and incidents, ensuring timely responses and corrections when necessary.
• Collaborates with the Program Development team to identify issues and recommend program changes or opportunities.

District Partnerships

• Builds and maintains relationships with existing and prospective school district partnerships.
• Oversees memorandum of understanding (MOU) creation, review, and completion.
• Ensures ongoing communication and feedback regarding partnerships.
• Provides timely updates to appropriate school district administrators regarding changes, incidents, or other relevant issues.
• Provides the Superintendent with program impact outcomes.

Regional Growth

• Build and facilitate consistent evaluation of growth plans and opportunities.
• Working with existing school district partners, identifies program or site growth opportunities.
• Maintain a list of prospective new district partners, including prioritization of key targets.
• Identifies key contacts and pursues connection opportunities.

Other Duties as Assigned by the VP of Regions and/or CEO:

• Any other duties to serve the ministry as assigned by the CEO.
• Serve on appropriate committees; attend staff meetings, board meetings, and other staff functions.
• Strengthen teamwork, collaboration, alignment, morale, transparency, credibility, and trust throughout the ministry.
• Fulfill necessary tasks, projects, or roles as assigned.

What you bring

The following describes many of the characteristics of the ideal candidate for the Executive Director of Greater Waco:

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of senior leadership experience.
• Non-profit experience preferred.
• Demonstrated outcome-based and results-driven leadership experience at a senior level required.
• Proven people, change, crisis, and organizational management experience required.
• Fundraising experience required.

Personal characteristics and qualifications

• Ability to shepherd and disciple staff from a biblical worldview.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve growth and solve complex problems.
• Demonstrated crisis/risk management skills.
• Proven character, refined in multiple organizational settings.
• Non-profit ministry experience preferred.
• Experience establishing organizational and programmatic systems and processes required.
• A Waco resident with key significant relationships in the region is preferred.
